In Memory of Dr. David R. Wright
It is with sadness that the Center notes the passing of former State Representative Dr. David R. Wright on November 18, 2016. Dr. Wright wrote the legislation that created the Center for Rural Pennsylvania in 1987. With the passage of Act 16, the Center became the first state government agency to serve as a resource for rural policy within the Pennsylvania General Assembly and to promote and sustain the vitality of Pennsylvania's rural and small communities. Dr. Wright was sometimes referred to as “Mr. Rural Pennsylvania” because of his efforts to highlight the needs of our rural communities. He served as chairman of the Center until his retirement from the House of Representatives in 1996.
